How-To: Belly Wrapping in Postpartum
Belly wrapping is an Ayurvedic practice that supports a mother’s core/belly restabilization as a means to re-balancing the Vata dosha.
For core and belly restabilization, and for balancing the Vata dosha as well as many other functions of the body, Ayurveda espouses a practice of belly wrapping, also referred to as belly binding.
The ideal time to do belly wrapping is right after birth for anything from 5-8 hours. Each week, you will reduce the amount of time wearing your wrap so that by six weeks, you are mostly or completely weaned from using it.
